Example of How the DNS

1. Host to query the local DNS domain (eg fedora.redhat.com)
2. Check local DNS cache, if there is then given, if not will ask you to root domain
3. Asks the local DNS root DNS
4. Root DNS referencing DNS. Com
5. Asks the local DNS to the DNS. Com
6. DNS. Com referencing DNS Redhat.com
7. Asks the local DNS to the DNS Redhat.com
8. DNS replies that fedora.redhat.com air Redhat.com IP 209.132.177.50
9. Local DNS provide answers to the requesting host

The types of DNS servers

resolver

• computer only generate information query the domain name to a DNS server and DNS server does not perform the function

CACHE ONLY

• Learn the answers provided by the remote query DNS server and store it in memory

PRIMARY

• Perform the function name server based on its database, this server becomes authoritative Source for a particular domain.

SECONDARY

• Take from the primary server becomes authoritative Source for the domain
